Install Instructions
1. Locate the Drain Plug
- Position yourself under the front of the vehicle
- Look for the engine splash shield opening towards the back to find the 17 mm engine oil drain plug
2. Loosen and Remove Drain Plug
- Use a socket to loosen the drain plug
- Keep a collection bucket ready to catch the draining oil
- Hold the plug to avoid splashing as it comes off
3. Inspect and Replace Washer
- After removing the plug, inspect the plug and washer
- If the washer is worn or reused, replace it
- Check the threads and head of the drain plug and replace if necessary
4. Reinstall Drain Plug
- Once the oil is down to a drip, clean the area and reinstall the drain plug
- Torque it to 31 ft-lb or snug it up to ensure a tight seal with the new washer
5. Remove the Oil Filter
- Locate the oil filter next to the oil filler cap
- Use an oil filter wrench if needed to loosen it
- Carefully remove it and check that the old O-ring is not stuck to the engine
6. Install the New Oil Filter
- Clean the mounting surface
- Lubricate the O-ring of the new oil filter with clean oil
- Thread it on until the gasket touches, then tighten about half a turn more
7. Add New Oil
- Remove the oil filler cap and place a funnel
- Pour in 4
- 6 quarts of 0W20 oil
- Use the markings on the bottle to measure
- Remove the funnel and close the cap snugly
8. Check Oil Level
- Pull out the yellow dipstick and wipe it clean
- Reinsert and remove it to check the level
- The oil should be at or near the top dot if you've added 4
- 6 quarts
9. Final Steps
- Reinsert the dipstick completely
- Reset your maintenance reminder if applicable or place a service sticker
- Take the vehicle for a road test
